Seven tips for stress-free parking in the city
Spend less time circling the block and more time where you’re going.
City parking doesn’t have to mean circling the same streets. These habits make it quicker and cheaper.
1. Look before you leave
Check parking near your destination before you set off. LooNavig shows car parks and on-street bays nearby, with prices and spaces where they’re known.
2. Read every sign
Restrictions can change from one end of a street to the other. Check the times, the maximum stay and whether a permit is needed before you leave the car.
3. Pay by app where you can
Many car parks and bays let you pay by phone, so you can extend your stay without running back to a meter.
4. Mind the height
Multi-storey car parks often have height limits. If you drive a van or have a roof box, check the limit in the listing first.
5. Charging an electric car?
Use the EV filter to find bays with chargers, and check the connector type before you arrive.
6. Think about park and ride
For busy centres, parking on the edge of town and taking public transport in is often faster and cheaper.
7. Combine your stops
Turn on Parking nearby in the toilet filters to find toilets with parking close by. It’s ideal on long drives and family days out.
